Abzaeva Design Brand Runway Show

This video art piece was created as a visual accompaniment to the new Abzaeva Designbrand collection, shown at Moscow Fashion Week 2025. It translates the collection’s themes into generative, audio-reactive visuals.

Concept

“The video art invites the viewer on a journey into the inner consciousness as it undergoes various transformations during prayer. One of the central visual elements is a bead, whose shape was generated by a neural network based on a generational prayer by Nadezhda Abzaeva — the founder and designer of the fashion brand Abzaeva Design — and then reconstructed in 3D.

As it moves in sync with the music composed by Content of Void, the prayer-sphere begins to unfold, immersing the viewer in multilayered worlds and structures. The journey starts with dense textures reminiscent of fabrics. In rhythm with the meditative music, these layers gradually thin out, becoming increasingly weightless and ephemeral. Through this, we sought to convey the interaction of different levels of consciousness — in Buddhism, referred to as wind-energies. Their nature ranges from coarse to subtle to the subtlest.

I believe that during prayer, a person mobilizes not only mental but also physiological resources. That’s why we chose to use organic forms in the multimedia — to reflect the body’s internal processes, such as the circulatory system, nerves, breath, and more.

Prayer is an intimate and sacred state, and we aimed to depict the physiological and mental shifts that occur within it. These states reach a climax, endlessly mirroring, intertwining, and transforming within one another,” explains concept author Aryuna Bulutova.

Technical Implementation & Visual Design

All animations in this piece were created using generative techniques in TouchDesigner. Each visual element is audio-reactive and tightly synchronized with the original music composed specifically for this runway show. While the core of the visual system is fully generative, keyframe animation was used to control scene transitions and certain effect layers. Additional post-processing was done in After Effects to refine the overall aesthetic and enhance the final composition.
